Data from the Tennis Industry Association and sports marketing surveys showed that Head was the number one brand of tennis racquets sold in Europe in the first six months of 2024, supported by strong sales in key markets. Head also improved its position in France, another key market, where it became the number two tennis racquet brand.

With strong sales in key European markets, including Austria, Italy, Germany and Spain, Head strengthened its position as Europe’s number-one tennis racquet brand. Head was the number one choice in seven of the countries and the number two choice in eight.

According to Head, the popularity was driven by new product introductions in 2024, including the updated Speed and Boom racquet series launch.

Over the first six months of 2024, Head also had excellent sales in the European tennis ball market, supported by a range of grassroots activities, partnerships and sponsoring tournaments such as the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in California.

Besides hardgoods, apparel is a growing segment of Head. Read SGI Europe´s C-suite interview with Roman Stepek, chief of Head’s apparel business.

Jannik Sinner important Grand Slam-winner for Head’s sale.

As in most sports, stars and brand ambassadors are key to sales. Here, it’s simple: Head has the most well-known and interesting tennis players right now, including two-time Grand Slam winner Jannik Sinner and several other superstars on both the women’s and men’s sides.

“The world-class performances from our ambassadors – including Jannik Sinner, Novak DjokovicAlexander Zverev and Coco Gauff – played a big part in our success,” said Ottmar Barbian, Executive Vice President of Racquet Sports at Head. “We’re also grateful to have a close and long-term collaboration with a wide network of retailers and local partners, all of whom contributed to our success. We’re very proud that Head continues to be the number one tennis racquet brand in Europe. Tennis may be an individual sport but achieving the top ranking was a team effort by everyone at Head.”
