Soon, it appears, the sport of padel will be played eyerywhere in the same way. As Jorge Caña, First Vice President of the International Padel Cluster (FIP) writes in Padel Cluster Magazine, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has approved the Cluster’s “New Proposal” (ISO/NP 25808), opening the way to a worldwide standard for padel courts. The vote was 20 ayes, zero nays and 15 abstentions.
Spain along with five of the ayes – France, Germany, Italy, the UK and China – will now be working to establish the standard, with a draft in view for mid-2026. The standard must be suitable for the five continents, ensure some ease of use for incapacitated people and provide for periodic inspections. It might require sound muffling in cities.
The Cluster has been able to place its expert, Juan Ramón Aparicio, on the team to serve as Project Leader.
