Resale platform StockX has released its latest trend report, Big Facts: Brands Making Moves, identifying the fastest-growing brands across its sneakers, shoes, apparel, accessories, and collectibles categories. A total of 25 brands, including several big sporting goods names, made the rankings, which compare global trade data from January through July of 2023 to the same period in 2022.
Running brands dominate StockX’s fastest growing list
One key trend is the rise in running shoes in mainstream sneaker culture. On, Salomon, and Asics are all seeing a surge in popularity, with all three among the fastest-growing sneaker brands on StockX in 2023. On takes the top spot and Salomon and Asics come in at third and fourth place respectively.
StockX attributes much of this growth to collaborations. On recently teamed up with Kith and Loewe, while Salomon dropped collections with the likes of Sandy Liang and JJJJound.
New Balance is on pace for record trades in 2023. Although narrowly missing the top five, at number six, New Balance is the only sneaker brand that ranks among the top 10 fastest-growing and the top 10 best-selling sneaker brands on StockX, largely due to the continued success of the 550, 2002R, and 9060 silhouettes.
In the shoes category, Birkenstock and Crocs continue to do well, both inside the top five fastest growing brands.
StockX CEO: ”Success on the secondary market a barometer for consumer demand”
“As a global marketplace rooted in data, we have a unique perspective on the trends, designers, and moments that are making an impact on the current culture consumer,” said StockX CEO Scott Cutler.
“Success on the secondary market can be a barometer for consumer demand, and this report proves that despite a more difficult retail environment, brands are still breaking through and demonstrating growth. We expect the brands on this list to perform well in the coming months and through the Q4 holiday season.”
